About us

Over 500 brother Masons have been part of the Harringay Lodge story so far, we are still adding to that amazing number

Harringay Lodge No.2763

Harringay Lodge has been in existence since it was formed (consecrated) on Tuesday 25th July 1899. By dispensation the consecration was held at Freemasons Hall in Great Queen Street and was followed by a banquet at Freemasons’ Tavern.

The Lodge was formed to meet the requirements of Freemasons who lived in Harringay Park and meetings were planned to take place there at The Salisbury Hotel. We have moved several times during our existence and now meet at Mark Mason’s Hall in London.

There were 24 founding members of the Lodge and our first Worshipful Master was W.Bro C.E. Wetton – he was a well-known and active Freemason, a member of at least 5 Lodges and a founder in two of them.

The Lodge is justly proud of its history and heritage – including our status as a Hallstone Lodge. This was awarded to the Lodge in 1919 to mark the donation of 250 guineas to the Million Memorial Fund. 61 members of the Lodge were presented with individual jewels.

The Hallstone Jewel (shown here) was designed by Cyril Saunders Spackman, RBA, RMS, its form is symbolic and on the side squares are the dates 1914-1918 – those agonising years in which thousands of Freemasons were among the many who made the supreme sacrifice. A list of Hallstone Lodges is engraved on a panel at Freemasons Hall, Great Queen Street.

Harringay Lodge has always been under the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) and is also now part of the Metropolitan Grand Lodge of London (MetGL).

The Lodge meets four times a year at Mark Mason’s Hall, 86 St. James’s Street, London SW1A 1PL (a six-minute walk from Green Park Underground station) and we meet on the following days:

  • 1st Saturday in February
  • 2nd Saturday in May
  • 1st Saturday in October (Installation)
  • 2nd Saturday in December

If you are a Mason interested in visiting or you are interested in becoming a Freemason please get in touch with our Lodge Secretary.

Over 500 Masons have been members of Harringay Lodge during its long history – as a Saturday Lodge in London many of our members have also been members of other Lodges. New members are always welcome.

Metropolitan Grand Lodge

Freemasons' Lodges have been meeting in London since the early 1700s. The idea of a London Grand Lodge was first proposed in 1767-8 but Metroplitan Grand Lodge was was not formed until 1 October 2003.
